Learn Scuba diving

Scuba diving is a unique form of underwater exploration where divers use self-contained breathing equipment, completely independent of a surface air supply. This innovative mode of diving was first introduced in 1925 by Yves Le Prieur in France and improved upon in 1942 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan during the German occupation of France. The term “Scuba,” an acronym for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, was coined by Christian J. Lambertsen and patented in 1952.

To safely participate in scuba diving, it is important to undergo a series of learning processes known as Scuba Diving Courses. These courses range from introductory “Discover/Try Scuba Diving” for beginners to advanced “Instructor” levels. Participants can range in age from 8 years old with no maximum age limit.

In addition to learning scuba diving, certification from Porto Scuba is also a crucial aspect of the process. This certification recognises a diver’s competence and allows them to safely participate in scuba diving activities.
