About the trip

Morning Escape is maRea Cruises’ half-day sea experience from Stavros for travellers
who want more than another morning on the beach without giving up the entire day.

After leaving Stavros Port, Maroula cruises through the Strymonikos Gulf towards
Kafkanas Island. The first anchoring stop is normally made near
Kafkanas, where there is time to swim, relax and enjoy the surroundings from the water.

From there we continue towards the coastline below Ancient Stageira.
This part of the trip combines forested slopes, open sea views and another opportunity
for swimming and snorkelling before the return towards Stavros.

The exact route and anchoring locations may change according to wind, sea conditions
and the captain’s judgement. At sea, choosing the most comfortable and suitable
location on the day is always more important than following a fixed line on a map.

Morning Escape route

The planned route takes us from Stavros Port towards Kafkanas Island
and then towards the coast below Ancient Stageira before returning across the
Strymonikos Gulf.

First stop: Kafkanas Island

Our first swimming stop is normally near Kafkanas Island. When conditions are suitable,
we anchor and give you time to cool off, swim and simply enjoy being away from the busy
summer shoreline.

Second stop: below Ancient Stageira

We then continue towards the coast below Ancient Stageira for a second swimming stop.
Seen from the sea, this part of the coast has a completely different character:
green slopes meet the blue water and the landscape opens across the Strymonikos Gulf.

sea conditions of the day.

A morning aboard Maroula

Morning Escape takes place aboard Maroula, a traditional Greek wooden
boat with the character of the working boats that have been part of Greek coastal life
for generations.
